About

The Weinstein Company, LLC (TWC) was an American independent film production and distribution company founded in New York City by Bob and Harvey Weinstein on March 10, 2005, following their departure from Miramax Films. One of the largest mini-major studios in North America, TWC and its genre label Dimension Films released a broad range of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, winning multiple Academy Awards including Best Picture for The King's Speech (2011) and The Artist (2012). The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2018 following the firing of Harvey Weinstein amid widespread sexual misconduct allegations; its assets were acquired by Lantern Entertainment (a subsidiary of Lantern Capital) in July 2018, effectively shutting down TWC permanently.
