The Detective Agency is the Los Angeles-based production company founded by director-producer Jake Kasdan and producer Melvin Mar, operating under a long-term overall deal at 20th Television (formerly 20th Century Fox Television), a Disney subsidiary. The company is best known for executive producing acclaimed broadcast and streaming comedies including Fresh Off the Boat, Speechless, The Grinder, Doogie Kameāloha M.D., and American Born Chinese, many of which spotlight AAPI representation. As of late 2024, the company is in production on a live-action LEGO feature film for Universal Pictures, as well as the upcoming Jumanji sequel for Sony Pictures.
