story27 Productions is a Los Angeles-based production company founded in 2021 by acclaimed TV writer, director, and producer Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends, Being Mary Jane) under an overall deal with Netflix. The company's mission is to serve as a 'legacy company' and destination for storytellers dedicated to centering the humanity of marginalized communities. Its slate includes the Netflix documentary Stamped from the Beginning (now streaming), the upcoming Netflix series Forever (an adaptation of Judy Blume's YA novel), and the drama series Agency, currently in development.
