Refinery29 (R29) is an American multinational digital media and entertainment company focused on women, covering style, beauty, fashion, work, money, wellness, and culture. Founded in 2005 in New York City, it operates the flagship Refinery29 brand alongside sub-brands Unbothered (Black women-focused) and Somos (Latina-focused), as well as the immersive experiential franchise 29Rooms. In April 2024, it was acquired by Sundial Media Group — parent company of Essence, Afropunk, and Girls United — from Vice Media following Vice's Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and operates as a standalone business within SMG.
