Piki Films is a private New Zealand film production and distribution company based in Auckland, co-founded by acclaimed director Taika Waititi and producer Carthew Neal. The company brings together some of New Zealand's best storytellers — including Madeleine Sami, Jackie van Beek, Rachel House, and Damon Fepulea'i — to champion thought-provoking stories from underrepresented perspectives. Piki is behind major international successes including Jojo Rabbit (six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture), Hunt for the Wilderpeople (New Zealand's then-#1 box office film), The Breaker Upperers, and the FX/Hulu series Reservation Dogs and Our Flag Means Death. The company name derives from the Māori word meaning 'to climb, ascend, climb over.'
