About

Pandora Film Produktion GmbH is an independent German film production and distribution company based in Cologne, founded in 1982 by Karl Baumgartner and Reinhard Brundig. Originally established as a distribution company for international arthouse cinema, it transitioned into production in the mid-1990s following Emir Kusturica's UNDERGROUND, and has since produced acclaimed works by directors including Aki Kaurismäki, Andreas Dresen, and Albert Serra. The company is widely regarded as one of Germany's foremost independent arthouse producers, emphasising quality over volume with up to six films per year. It operates two related entities: Pandora Film Produktion GmbH (production) and Pandora Film GmbH & Co. Filmproduktions- und Vertriebs KG (distribution/Verleih).
