Orion Pictures

Orion Pictures (legally Orion Releasing, LLC) is an American film production and distribution company owned by Amazon MGM Studios, a subsidiary of Amazon. In its current incarnation, Orion focuses primarily on developing, producing, distributing, and acquiring independent and specialty films made by underrepresented filmmakers, with a commitment to amplifying underserved voices both in front of and behind the camera. Originally founded in 1978, Orion is historically celebrated for releasing four Academy Award Best Picture winners — Amadeus, Platoon, Dances with Wolves, and The Silence of the Lambs — and in its revived era under Amazon MGM has earned three consecutive Best Picture nominations for Women Talking (2022), American Fiction (2023), and Nickel Boys (2024).
