About

Oats Studios (operating legally as Serscha Studios Ltd.) is an independent experimental film production company founded in 2017 by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Neill Blomkamp and his brother Mike Blomkamp, headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. The studio functions as a full-service filmmaking 'lab,' producing short-form science fiction and horror content distributed via YouTube and Steam, with the goal of gauging audience interest for expansion into feature films. Known for high-production-value shorts such as Rakka, Firebase, and Zygote — featuring actors like Sigourney Weaver and Dakota Fanning — Oats Studios is recognized for its open-source approach that shares film assets directly with fans and collaborators.
