Newcity Communications

Newcity Communications, Inc. is a Chicago-based independent media company founded in 1986 by Brian and Jan Hieggelke, still owner-operated by its founders. The company publishes Newcity, a flagship print and digital arts-and-culture magazine covering Chicago's visual arts, dance, design, dining, film, literature, music, and theater. In addition to its magazine and portfolio of digital properties, Newcity operates the Chicago Film Project, a film production and distribution arm that has produced acclaimed independent features including 'Signature Move' (SXSW) and 'Knives and Skin' (Berlinale). The company also offers custom publishing services under the Newcity Custom banner for cultural institutions and brands.
