About

New8 is a pan-European co-production and broadcast collaboration between eight major public service broadcasters — SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), YLE (Finland), RÚV (Iceland), NRK (Norway), VRT (Flanders/Belgium), NPO (The Netherlands), and ZDF (Germany) — described as the 'largest drama collaboration in Europe.' Founded in October 2023 at Rome's MIA Market, the alliance co-produces approximately eight premium scripted drama series per year targeting the 18–45 demographic, with each series distributed across all member territories covering a potential market of 142 million viewers. The partnership was renewed for a second three-year term in January 2026, having already greenlit 24 original series across three slates. New8 focuses on high-quality, socially resonant stories built on European public-service values, with series also finding international distribution via partners such as Studiocanal, Fremantle, and Rabbit International.
