About

The Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater is a 299-seat Off-Broadway thrust-stage venue located in the lower level of the Vivian Beaumont Theater building at Lincoln Center, 150 West 65th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Originally called The Forum when it opened on November 10, 1967, it was renamed in 1973 in honor of prominent New York philanthropist Mitzi E. Newhouse. Operated since 1985 by Lincoln Center Theater (LCT), America's largest nonprofit theater organization, the Newhouse presents a year-round program of Off-Broadway plays and musicals with an emphasis on world and New York premieres. Notable long-running productions include Six Degrees of Separation (1990), The Substance of Fire (1992), and Streamers (1976–1977).
