About

Material Pictures is an independent production company founded in 2012 by actor-producer Tobey Maguire, with partner Matthew Plouffe serving as its key producing executive. The company focuses on mid-budget independent and genre features, operating outside the traditional studio system to maintain creative flexibility. Notable productions include Brittany Runs a Marathon (acquired by Amazon for $14 million at Sundance), Pawn Sacrifice, The 5th Wave, The Best of Enemies, Get Duked!, and Babylon (2022).
