Mandate Pictures

Mandate Pictures is an American full-service film production and financing company founded in 2005 (originally operating as Senator International from 2001) by Joseph Drake, Nathan Kahane, and Brian Goldsmith in Santa Monica, California. Acquired by Lionsgate in September 2007 for approximately $56.3 million, the company operated as an independent brand within Lionsgate, known for producing acclaimed commercial and independent films including the Oscar-nominated Juno (2007), the Harold & Kumar franchise, This Is the End (2013), and the Saw series. After a period of dormancy from 2013 to 2024, Mandate Pictures was revived in 2025 under Lionsgate ownership with a renewed focus on comedy-driven and genre projects, including a fourth Harold & Kumar film being written and directed by the creators of Cobra Kai.
