LATEA (Latin American Theater Experiment Associates)

LATEA (Latin American Theater Experiment Associates) is a nonprofit performing arts theater company and Latino cultural institution founded in 1982, operating out of The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center on New York City's Lower East Side — a building it helped preserve for the community. LATEA promotes and produces Latino performing arts through three distinct programs: LATEA STAGE (experimental theater), LATEA SCREEN (new media content and film festivals), and LATEA MUSIC (Latin Jazz, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and South American genres). It operates a 76-seat experimental theater space and has expanded into live streaming and original Latinx content production via its LATEA Remoto initiative.
