Kaphar Studio

Kaphar Studio is the official studio and creative practice of Titus Kaphar, an American contemporary painter, sculptor, filmmaker, and 2018 MacArthur Fellow based in New Haven, Connecticut. His work reconfigures art history to center African-American subjects through paintings, sculptures, and installations that examine history, representation, and social justice. Beyond visual art, Kaphar also co-founded NXTHVN, a 40,000-square-foot nonprofit arts incubator in New Haven, and has extended his practice into film. The studio serves as the hub for his exhibitions, press, and creative output.
