Kamala Films

Kamala Films is a New York- and Los Angeles-based independent film finance and production company founded in 2005 by Marissa McMahon and co-run with President of Production & Development Ashley Schlaifer. The company focuses on developing and producing narrative feature films, and is known for producing the Oscar-nominated A Private War (2018) and the critically acclaimed Train Dreams (2025), which earned four Academy Award nominations including Best Picture. Train Dreams premiered at Sundance 2025 and was acquired by Netflix, cementing Kamala Films' reputation as a boutique independent production company with an eye for prestige literary adaptations.
