ITV1 is the United Kingdom's biggest and longest-running commercial free-to-air television channel, owned and operated by ITV plc. Launched in September 1955 as Independent Television, it provides the Channel 3 public broadcast service across England, Wales, Southern Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands. The channel broadcasts mass-audience programming including dramas, entertainment shows, reality television, news, documentaries, and sport, and contends with BBC One as the UK's most-watched channel. It is also available to stream live via the ITVX streaming platform.
