Irondale Ensemble Project - NextGenFollow

Irondale NextGen is an artistic initiative of the Irondale Ensemble Project — one of the longest-standing ensemble theatre companies in America, founded in 1983 and based in Fort Greene, Brooklyn — designed to give emerging directors, performers, and theater makers the opportunity to develop and lead their own projects using Irondale's 40+ years of ensemble practice. Announced in September 2026, NextGen provides a structured yet open creative space for a new generation of artists who have been learning the Irondale method to take the lead, experiment, and make original work. Its inaugural production is Miss Julie, running November 27–December 19 at The Space at Irondale. The initiative is rooted in the philosophy of co-founders Jim Niesen (Artistic Director) and Terry Greiss (Executive Director), who envision NextGen as a continuation — not a reproduction — of Irondale's tradition of socially engaged ensemble theatre.
