About

Hillman Grad is a full-service media and production company founded in 2018 by Emmy® Award-winning writer, producer, and actor Lena Waithe, built to empower underrepresented artists and amplify the stories of diverse and historically marginalized communities across film and television. The company grew to include six divisions spanning TV/Film, Music, Books, Podcasts, Branded Content, and Mentorship, becoming one of the most prominent BIPOC-led production companies in entertainment. In June 2025, the company significantly scaled back to operate as a boutique creative imprint for Waithe, with most executive staff departing, while continuing to produce The Chi and other Waithe-driven projects. The company also houses the Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab, Rising Voices initiative, and the Legacy Talk podcast.
