GableStage Theatre Company

GableStage Theatre Company is one of South Florida's longest-running and most acclaimed professional theatre companies, located at the historic Biltmore Hotel (now the Wolfson Family Theatre) in Coral Gables, Florida. Founded in 1979 as Florida Shakespeare Theatre and reestablished as GableStage in 1998, the company produces daring, identity-conscious theatrical works of artistic excellence that confront contemporary issues and ideas for a multicultural South Florida audience. The organization has received 79 Carbonell Awards (as of 2025) — including three consecutive Outstanding Production Award wins (2023–2025) — and has been voted Best Theatre Company by Miami New Times and Coral Gables Magazine. GableStage is poised to expand operations into the historic Coconut Grove Playhouse in 2027/28.
