G. P. Putnam's Sons is one of the oldest and most prestigious book publishing imprints in the United States, founded in 1838 by George Palmer Putnam and John Wiley. Since 1996 it has operated as an imprint of the Penguin Group (now Penguin Random House), and has led the publishing industry with more hardcover New York Times bestsellers than any other imprint for more than two decades. The imprint publishes acclaimed fiction and nonfiction authors including Tom Clancy, C.J. Box, John Sandford, Clive Cussler, Delia Owens, and Lisa Scottoline, averaging 30–35 New York Times bestsellers per year. It also operates a children's division, G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers, under Penguin Young Readers.
