About

Atlantic Theater Company is a Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Off-Broadway nonprofit theater company founded in 1985 by playwright David Mamet, actor William H. Macy, and a group of NYU acting students, dedicated to producing innovative works by emerging and established playwrights using their signature Practical Aesthetics technique. Operating the 199-seat Linda Gross Theater and the 99-seat Atlantic Stage 2 black-box in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, the company has produced more than 200 plays and musicals, including Broadway transfer hits Spring Awakening, The Band's Visit, Kimberly Akimbo, and Buena Vista Social Club. In addition to its theatrical productions, Atlantic operates the Atlantic Acting School, which includes a private conservatory and an undergraduate program in partnership with NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
