Actors Theatre of Louisville

Actors Theatre of Louisville is a Tony Award-winning non-profit professional theatre company founded in 1964 and designated the official State Theatre of Kentucky. Located in a National Historic Landmark building in downtown Louisville, it operates three theatre venues and presents nearly 400 performances annually, including classics, contemporary work, and holiday productions. The theatre is internationally renowned for championing new American playwriting, having introduced more than 450 plays into the theatrical repertoire through its acclaimed Humana Festival of New American Plays. As of September 2025, the theatre is led by Artistic Director Amelia Acosta Powell and Managing Director Emily Tarquin.
