Aboriginal Peoples Television Network

Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is the world's first national Indigenous broadcaster, launched September 1, 1999, and headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The network broadcasts programming by, for, and about Indigenous Peoples — including news, drama, documentaries, children's programming, and cultural content — in English, French, and over a dozen Indigenous languages to more than 11 million subscribers nationwide. APTN operates two linear channels (APTN and APTN Languages), the streaming platform APTN+, and multiple digital brands (APTN News, APTN Kids, APTN Movies, APTN Documentaries), and is sustained through subscriber fees, advertising, and partnerships rather than direct government operational funding. APTN has earned international recognition for investigative journalism and fostering Indigenous media sovereignty globally.
