The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) is a nonprofit arts service organization founded in 1972 to support New York City's community of nonprofit theatre companies. The organization assists over 400 member theatres by providing four core programs: subsidized office, rehearsal, and performance spaces; professional development and training; grant funding and cash-flow loans; and community connections and advocacy. Its A.R.T./New York Theatres facility at 502 W 53rd Street houses two flexible, state-of-the-art performance venues — the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre (up to 87 seats) and the Mezzanine Theatre (up to 149 seats) — and has hosted more than 175 productions for over 160,000 audience members since opening in 2017.
